All is now set as Drivers Welfare Club of Nigeria (DWCN) in conjunction with some government agencies have concluded plans for the official flag off of its drivers database and safety manifest as well as the commissioning of its zonal and state office.
This was made known by Comrade Superior Odinkpa, State Treasure and the Unit Chairman of Aba Road branch of the Association while speaking during the sensitization and road show of the unit today in Port Harcourt.
He further said that they are using the event to create awareness for people to know that DWCN is a stand alone association that has no affiliation with the National Union of Road Transport Workers ( NURTW).
Comrade Superior stated that the event will also be an opportunity to educate drivers on their safety manifest, which he said include but not limited to driving with your drivers’ license; if you must drink, don’t drive and if you must drive don’t drink.
The drivers would also be advised to always observe recommended speed limits and to dress and speak responsibly, he said.
He further enumerated all that a professional driver should possess while driving on the road to include Valid driver’s license; driver safety manifest; stickers and emblem of the organization and his biometric Data Base with the organization.
The Unit Chairman said the event will also be used to give out hire purchase vehicles to dedicated and willing hard working members with verifiable addresses and guarantors.
The state treasurer said he is using the medium to invite all and sundry to the epoch making event on 18th may 2025 at the State and zonal office at kilometer 1 Eleme refinery road Port Harcourt, Rivers State
