Senate, the upper legislative chambers of Nigeria’s National Assembly has suspended for six months, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan representing Kogi Central senatorial district of Kogi State over allegations of misconduct.
The suspension is effective from Thursday March 6, 2025.
Thescale news gathered that within the period of the suspension, her office will be locked and she will be barred from accessing the National Assembly premises as well as her salaries and those of her legislative aides will be withdrawn.
This followed the recommendations of the Senate Committee on Public Conduct, Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions.
The Senator Imasuen led committee which met last Wednesday and took evidence from Clerk of the National Assembly and Clerk of the Senate respectively also dismissed Natasha’s petition on the grounds that the issues were before the court.
Last February, Senator Natasha had a disagreement with Senate President, Godswill Akpabio over seating arrangements in the chamber. The situation escalated a few days later when she accused Akpabio of sexual harassment and abuse of power.
