FOI: NFF Faces Legal Action Over Chelle’s Contract
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) would soon be entangled in a legal action over its failure to reveal the details of Eric Chelle’s Contract as Super Eagles coach in line with the Freedom Of Information Act (FOI).
Our Sports Correspondent gathered that the football governing body in the country was on Tuesday June 10, 2025 served with a court order issued by Hon Justice G.K. Olotu of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
In suit number FHC/ABJ/ CS/293/2025, Bob Majiri Oghene Communications (BMC) had approached the Federal High Court in Abuja through an ex-parte motion filed on February 18, 2025, complaining that the NFF had failed to respond to a BMC Freedom of Information (FOI) letter dated 20/01/2025, requesting the NFF and Alh. Ibrahim Gusau to furnish BMC with details of the contract signed with Mr. Eric Chelle as Head Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Thescale.com.ng learnt that the BMC request also wanted Chelle’s offer and acceptance letters.
Mr. Ben Kargbo, counsel to BMC, reportedly said that since the matter had been adjourned till the 22 July, 2025, that he expected the NFF to do the needful.
“The matter as it is now is between the NFF and the Federal High Court,” Mr. Kargbo said.
