The Executive Chairman of Abua/Odual Local Government Area, Hon. Vincent Reuben Obu has lauded Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State for fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities towards the state Judiciary.
Hon. Mathew Sokolo, Chief of Staff (COS) to the council chairman, who represented the chairman at the Thanksgiving service and the special court session marking the commencement of the 2024/2025 legal year organized by the Rivers State Judiciary made the commendations while speaking to newsmen.
He appreciated the Governor for his administration’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities towards the state Judiciary as well as facilitating the appointment of seven judges, one of whom hails from the LGA.
According to him, the governor’s strategic move aims to bolster and enhance the efficiency of the judicial system in Rivers State, ensuring a robust framework for justice delivery.
The prestigious event was hosted at the Rivers State High Court premises in Port Harcourt, drawing judicial officers and legal practitioners from across the state.
Earlier at the Thanksgiving ceremony at St. Paul Cathedral, Garrison, the Judiciary was charged with a solemn duty by the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, urging them to dutifully and confidently dispense justice without fear or favor from anybody.
The governor emphasized the need for strong institutions in Nigeria to grow democracy.
