It was celebration of Life as dignitaries from all walks of Life from within and outside Abia State gathered last Saturday November 8, 2025 at Akoli Town, Agbama, Olokoro in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State to pay their last respect to the life and times of late Elder (Pa) Elijah Nnokwam Onukaogu as he was laid to rest in his hometown.
Akoli Town in Agbama, Olokoro came alive as several cultural and youth groups entertained friends and well wishers of the deceased who had thronged the Akoli Town hall, venue of the funeral service for the late nonagenerian.
Among these dignitaries was Apostle Eugene Ogu, General Overseer of Abundant Life Evangelical Mission (ALEM) in Port Harcourt and former chairman of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in Rivers State, top Politicians, captains of industries as well as royal fathers and respected elders and community leaders.
Late Pa Elijah Nnokwam Onukaogu was called to higher glory by his maker on Wednesday 28 May, 2025 at the ripe age of 90 years Old.
Late Elder Onukaogu was born on a leap year on Saturday 6 June, 1935 to the famous family of late Chief Nwageruka and his wife, late Madam Ejigheme Onukaogu in Akoli, Agbama, Olokoro in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State. He was the last of six children.
He attended Central School Olokoro, where he obtained his Standard six in 1959 before proceeding to Sapele, in present day Delta State to further his education. He worked with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) for many years and in several Airports before his retirement in 1996.
He was a foundation member of the All Saints Anglican Church in Port Harcourt International Airport where he served as Pastor’s Warden until his demise. He also accommodated several Pentecostal churches in his compound at Chokocho in Etche LGA of Rivers State without collecting anything from them. But rather used his own money to help them settle down to their full ministry works.
He was also the first person to establish a private Nursery and Primary School in Chokocho, Etche in Rivers State. He was highly and greatly recognised and respected in Chokocho community where he resided in Rivers State.
