It was a celebration of life and time well spent last Thursday November 13, 2025 in Egwi in Etche LGA of Rivers State when Professor Naboth Hanacho Alozie Nwafor buried his mother, late Deaconess Janet Amandem Nwafor (Nee Nwuzi) at  the ripe age of 104 years.

Prof Nwafor said that it is with inestimable Joy and happiness that he’s bidding his dear mother farewell, who, according to him, not only loved them as her children but also did her best to raise them up from nothing to the great heights they’ve all attained today.

Prof Naboth said that her mother’s sense of industry, diligence and doggedness animated his soul and heart; her nurturing love, care and sacrifice, even in the face of difficulties can never be forgotten, adding that he always remembered stories of her mother’s struggle in life and the value she instilled in him and his siblings; the resilient character she inculcated in them which he described as indelible footprints on their paths.

The renowned academician further stated that  his mum was a mother to all those she touched their lives positively, saying that she was his late father’s confidant and together they taught, instilled discipline and humanity in them, describing her as a teacher of teachers, whose cherished legacies would be passed on to generation yet unborn.

He continued by saying that his joy knows no bounds because his mother prayed and blessed him and was physically present during  his inaugural lecture and saw him being decorated during the 101st  Inaugural lecturer of Rivers State University to the fulfilment of her late husband’s cherished dream.

Promising that her cherished ideals would remain indelible in their hearts, Prof Nwafor pointed out that the children would miss her greatly but hoped that they would meet on resurrection morning to the glory of God.
