Fakorede Officially Resumes At Alagbon Close

Despite speculation from his critics, the immediate past head of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Monitoring Unit in Abuja, Commissioner of Police (CP) Akin Victor Fakorede, has officially resumed duty as head of the Anti-Fraud Unit at the Force Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department (FCID) annex, Alagbon Close in Lagos.

The FCID facility at Alagbon Close—widely regarded within security circles as the nerve centre of the Nigeria Police Force—serves as a key training ground for top-ranking officers, including those who eventually rise to become Inspectors General of Police.

CP Fakorede succeeds AIG Simeon Udofia Akpanudom, who previously led the Anti-Fraud Unit as a Commissioner of Police before his recent promotion to Assistant Inspector-General of Police and subsequent appointment to head the FCID Annex at Alagbon Close.

Notably, several senior officers, including the current IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu and the highest-ranking female officer, DIG Margaret Ochalla, who now heads the FCID Headquarters in Abuja, have all passed through Alagbon Close. DIG Ochalla had earlier overseen the Alagbon office as an AIG before her elevation and redeployment.

Fakorede’s resumption effectively debunks earlier claims circulating among critics that he had been reassigned to the Force’s Research and Development Department.
