Iho Dimeze Ancient Kingdom witnessed a moment of cultural pride and historic significance on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, as renowned Journalist, Chief Emeka Amaefula, was formally installed with the chieftaincy title of “Ugo Oha I of IHO Dimeze.”

The prestigious title was conferred by His Royal Majesty, Eze (Dr.) Chieze Martin Amaku, Dimeze II of Iho Dimeze Ancient Kingdom, in recognition of Amaefula’s outstanding service, commitment to community development and contributions to humanity.

Chief Amaefula, a respected media professional and Bureau Chief of City People Magazine as well as former Bureau Chief of the now-defunct High Society Magazine, Lagos, was honoured for his long-standing dedication to promoting unity, cultural heritage and the positive image of Iho Dimeze.

The colourful ceremony drew an array of dignitaries, including traditional rulers, chiefs from the 19 villages that make up the kingdom, community leaders, presidents-general, media practitioners and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the elevation.

With the conferment of the title, Chief Amaefula has now been admitted into the Eze-in-Council, the administrative arm of the Iho Dimeze traditional institution.

Speakers at the event described him as a bridge-builder and a worthy ambassador of the kingdom, noting that his influence and goodwill have consistently advanced the community’s development agenda and cultural pride.

Beyond Iho Dimeze, Chief Amaefula has made a mark nationally through journalism, advocacy, and public engagement, earning respect across professional and social circles for his integrity, people-focused storytelling and commitment to youth empowerment and community upliftment.

The title “Ugo Oha I,” which translates to the pride and strength of the people, was said to reflect his character, values, and enduring dedication to service. It also carries a call to higher responsibility and continued leadership in service to the kingdom and society.

Prayers were offered for wisdom, good health, and greater accomplishments for the newly installed chief as he continues to serve his community, the media profession, and humanity.
