A family from Isiafor Okpuala Village in Iho Dimeze Ancient Kingdom, Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, has alleged that it has been forcibly displaced from its ancestral home following a protracted dispute over family inheritance.
Mr. Nzubechi Bright Benson Iwu, a member of the Egbuhuo Clan Kindred, alleged that his ancestral Ishi Obi (family ancestral homestead), to which he claims to be the rightful heir under the customs and traditions of the community, was forcefully occupied by Mr. Chima Iwu, popularly known as “Sheyshey.”

According to the family, the alleged occupation has compelled Mr. Nzubechi Iwu, his widowed mother, and his siblings to flee their ancestral home due to concerns for their safety. They claim they have since been living away from their community, unable to return to their family homestead.
The family further alleged that, while appearing at a meeting on Monday, 13 July 2026, at the palace of His Royal Majesty, Eze (Dr.) Martin Chieze Amaku, JP, Dimeze II of Iho Dimeze Ancient Kingdom, in connection with a separate land dispute involving another community chief, Mr. Chima Iwu, popularly known as “Sheyshey,” made statements regarding his position within the Iwu family.

According to the family, issues relating to his entitlement to family inheritance and the ownership of the disputed ancestral land were raised during the proceedings. These claims have not been independently verified, and no official record of the meeting was available for review. The family is appealing to the relevant authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to intervene and ensure justice, adequate protection, and the peaceful restoration of their ancestral inheritance in accordance with the laws of Nigeria and the customs and traditions of Iho Dimeze Ancient Kingdom.
