Rep Mia Love, First Black US Republican Congresswoman Dies

The first United States of America (USA) black woman elected to Congress as a Republican, Rep. Mia Love is dead. 

According to her family, Rep Mia Love passed away last Sunday following a battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer.

A report monitored on CNN indicates that the family, in a post on X announced that it was “with grateful hearts filled to overflowing for the profound influence of Mia on our lives, we want you to know that she passed away peacefully today” in her home surrounded by family members.

The deceased, who was 49, was elected as a representative of Utah’s 4th Congressional District from 2015 to 2019.

Also confirming the death, Utah Governor, Spencer Cox described Love as “a true trailblazer”.
