Rivers Elderstateman Cautions On Unfolding Political Events

Elder statesman, His Highness Anabs Sara Igbe has called on Rivers people to remain patient with the political processes in the state, stressing that in a couple of days the political direction will tell the people ‘who and who are the candidates’.

Speaking to newsmen on the second day of the Centenary  Celebration of the NUC-Distinguished Emeritus Professor Otonti Nduka in Port Harcourt, Chief Igbe said that for now the political process does not give anyone a clear picture, because according to him, some of the political parties are still conducting their primaries ahead of the 2027 elections.

“Well, the parties are doing their primaries. Let the parties finish their primaries and give us their candidates, then we would have the alternative to access them and tell the state who and who is a better candidate,” he said.

Chief Igbe, who earned the moniker, “Mafia Messenger” in the early 2000s during former Governor Peter Odili regime told this publication that the 100th Centenary celebration of Emeritus Prof Otonti Nduka calls for moral reflections about the life of a man he described as a ‘Patriot’, who has weathered the storms of life and still kicking.

“We are grateful that he is being celebrated, but how I wish, the celebration was done by the state? And not when some have passed on!” he further explained.

The Kalabari born maverick commentator however suggested that the state government should find a way of honouring the centenarian because reaching such a height in life is very rare.

“It is very rare for people to live up to 100 years. And if, one of us have lived and stayed very strong and healthy, I think it is a good thing to give glory to God. I celebrate him and wish him many more healthy years ahead” .
