Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of Stakeholders for Integrity and Good Governance (SHIG), a pro Fubara political support group, Rev (High Chief) Standfast Robinson Arugu has lauded Governor Siminalayi Fubara for the smooth conduct of the local government elections through out the state.
In an exclusive chat with this online newspaper over the weekend in Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State, he observed that the election was devoid of violence, even with the absence of the Police. “It was so smooth that, inspite of the absence of the Police, the people trooped out joyously to cast their votes.
“For me, so far this is the best election in the state that recorded the least incidences of violence and electoral frauds. We now realise that our political elections are better off without the police. Infact, this election has revealed the complicity of security operatives in our electoral process.”
Rev (High Chief) Standfast Robinson Arugu also congratulated the 23 council chairmen and the over 300 councillors who emerged winners from the election and have since been sworn in by the state governor and urged them to emulate the humility and integrity of the state governor in the affairs of their respective councils.
“As Gov Siminalayi Fubara makes Rivers first as the mantra of his government in the state, so also they should make the state and their respective LGAs first in all their dealings,” he advised, even as he charged them to be selfless in their service to the people.
