The Vatican in Rome, headquarters of the Holy Roman Catholic Church has released date for the burial of late Pope Francis, who passed on to higher glory in the early hours of Easter Monday April 21, 2025.

Unconfirmed reports trending on social media indicate that the funeral ceremonies for the late Pope will commence on Saturday April 26, 2025 with an outdoor event at St Peter’s Basilica before interment at St Mary Major Basilica.

We gathered that the casket will be on public display at St Peter’s Basilica on Wednesday morning to enable faithful pay their last respect to the Pontiff who would be fondly remembered for his uncompromising stance on world peace.

Currently, the Vatican has released pictures of the late Pope Francis corpse inside an open coffin, indicating that the body would lie at the Chapel of Casa Santa Marta, his Vatican residence before being moved to St Peter’s Basilica on Wednesday.
