Wike Loyalists Grab Senate, HOR And HOA Tickets

It is now clear that the political battle between Gov Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and his estranged political godfather, Chief Nyesom Wike anchored in the state Parliament is far from over.

It may resurface again in his second tenure if he manages to win the All Progressives Congress’s (APC) governorship ticket in the governorship primaries of the party coming up in few days.

This is because Loyalists of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike in the party in Rivers State have grabbed all the available tickets for the national and state legislatures.

They were all returned unopposed, even under the direct mode of primaries adopted by the state branch of the party, sequel to the disqualification of all his loyalists  by the party’s screening committee.

Senator Allwell Onyesoh, a serving Senator who was cleared for a second tenure won in his ward five in Etche LGA and other LGAs in the Senatorial district to clinch the ticket for the Rivers South East senatorial district in the state.

Mr Amajirionwu Samuel, Asst State Organising Secretary of the party told newsmen that Senator Allwell Onyesoh scored 803 votes in the exercise which took place last Monday May 18, 2026 at Umuoayagu in Etche LGA.

Our Correspondent who also monitored the APC House of Assembly primaries today Wednesday May 20, 2026 in ward four, which was held in Umuechem, also in Etche LGA reports that returning State legislator, Hon Nwankwo Chimezie Christian won unopposed to grab the House of Assembly ticket for Etche Constituency one.

In Khana LGA of the state, two Wike loyalists in the APC platform emerged for the Rivers State House of Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mrs. Alice Baridakara Samuel emerged as the party’s candidate for Constituency 1, while Hon. Dinebari Loolo secured the ticket for Constituency 2.

The emergence of the two candidates was greeted with excitement by supporters and stakeholders, who expressed confidence in the APC’s prospects in the upcoming polls.

In Rivers state, Gov Fubara faces a herculean task on Saturday during the governorship primaries because the APC governorship ticket is expected to be influenced heavily by the political structure loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

Advertorial

His lack of control over party structure in the state complicates this path as analysts believe loyalists of the Wike-led coalition are more likely to secure the ticket.
