The Rivers State Sole Administrator (SOLAD), Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd) has increased the allocation for the payment of pensioners arrears from two billion to two point six billion Naira monthly. A new report has shown that at least 1,686 people were killed in 909 incidents of gang violence across Nigeria between January 2020 and March 2025, with the South-South and Southwest regions emerging as the most affected zones. The study, anchored by Geopolitical Research Consultancy, SBM Intelligence stipulated that Rivers State topped the fatality chart with 215 deaths, followed by Lagos (197 deaths) and Edo (192 deaths), establishing their identities as hotspots of cult and gang related rivalries. Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles will face defending champions, Senegal in their opening fixture at the 2024 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament.
