New King For Okpeden Clan In ABOLGA

The people of Egbolom Town in Okpeden Clan of Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers state were today Saturday, July 19, 2025 thrown into joyous and jubilant mood as they presented their king elect, King Ishmael Sunday Iginighiom to Oda Abuan for confirmation and crowning.

Thescale.com.ng which was in the community for the momentous event reports that residents of the community trooped down to Oda Abuan Palace in Otari town, Abua Central, headquarters of the LGA for the occasion and accompanied their Royal Highness back in a motorcade with songs and dances.

Our Correspondent also observed that the celebration with traditional troupes and displays entertaining residents and visitors alike were still ongoing as at the time of this report.

The Traditional Ruler of Egbolom Town, home town of the newly crowned king, Chief Kenoye Obinoma Robert (111) was ecstatic that his community has, once again been able to crown a new king to pilot affairs of the clan to the glory of God.

“Today, we’ve crowned another new Royal Highness and his name is King Ishmael Iginighiom Sunday. So, today, we carried Ishmael Iginighiom Sunday to go to Oda Abuan and the king of Abuan/Odual LGA to show the king and to crown him,” Chief Robert told our Correspondent on the sidelines of the celebration.

He advised the new king to rule his people in Egbolom, Abua and Okpeden peacefully with the fear of God.

In an exclusive chat with Thescale.com.ng in his palace at Egbolom Town, King Ishmael Sunday Iginighiom V (JP) said, “today is another milestone in the history of my life and the most happiest day of Egbolom people, Okpeden and Abua in general . . . I was the one selected to be the Uwema Okpeden and Okpeden people deemed it necessary to take me to Oda Abuan for confirmation and that’s the ceremony you’re seeing.

“So, today ODA Abuan crowned me as the Uwema Okpeden . . . Oda Abuan gave me a lot of advices, including the peace of Okpeden and Abua in general. That I should make sure that I fly the flag of Okpeden very high and to carry everybody along. That this is the new dawn of Okpeden. It’s a new era, while a new child has been born in Okpeden. One of the chapters in the book of Isaiah says that a king will be born. It’s a prophecy and the prophecy came to pass in Oda Abuan today.”

King Iginighiom V, who was highly elated said that his ascension to the royal throne of his forefathers has opened the clan to more developments. “Even when I was on acting capacity. It was on my cap as acting capacity that the companies you’re seeing everywhere in Okpeden. I signed that memorandum for them to come in and that’s the beginning of the new dawn,” he averred

He advised everyone to live in harmony and peace and to learn to forgive one another as the Lord Jesus enjoined us all
