The Commander of Oyigbo Urban Security in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chimaobi Francis Iwela has warned criminals to stay away from the Local Government because there will be no hiding place for them in the LGA.
Commander Iwela, who was also the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the immediate past chairman of the LGA, Dr Gift Okere gave the warning in a chat with journalists in his office recently.
He said that it’s better for criminals in the area to repent or relocate because Oyigbo will be too hot for them as he and his men are battle ready to fight crime in the LGA to a standstill.
He therefore appealed to well meaning individuals in the LGA, especially the elites and corporate bodies to assist the Command because security is everybody business.
The security outfit Commander commended the late Eze-Oha of Oyigbo Urban, HRH Eze Mike Nwaji, whom he said formed the outfit and provided the initial logistics and the former Oyigbo council boss, Dr Gift Okere for assisting the command.
Mr Iwela, who regretted that the funding of the outfit stopped with the sacking of council chairmen in the state by the Supreme Court ruling of February 28, 2025, stated that the outfit’s greatest challenge is lack of logistics and incomplete firearms.
The Commander, popularly known as Don Skopy further stated that the door of the Command is always open to residents of the local Government with useful information to enable them rid criminality in the area, with a firm promise to protect their identities.
He however advised those withholding vital information about criminals from security agencies not do so because they could be charged for aiding and abetting crimes and treated as criminals as well.
