The chairman of Meyeti Allah in Rivers State, Alhaji Mohammed Tukur Abubakar has condemned the fight between Muslims and a lady food vendor in Woji market in Obio/Akpo Local Government Area of Rivers State.

You will recall that a lady food vendor last Friday in Woji suburb of Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State had an altercation with a Muslim in an area considered to be predominantly a Muslim enclave.

As a result, the food vendor chairs, table and cooking utensils were burnt to ashes because she was accused of making blasphemous statements against the holy Prophet Muhammad which Muslim faithfuls considered very sacrilegious.

The incident which caused panic and pandemonium among residents of the area forced the food vendor to escape as people scampered for safety because Muslim faithfuls in the areà made frantic efforts to kill the lady in question.

Speaking to news men on the issue, Alhaji Mohammed Tukur Abubakar, who is also the  chairman of Fulanis and Muslims in Eleme Junction, a suburb of Port Harcourt said that there’s no place for extremism in Islam because it’s a religion of peace and forgiveness.

Speaking further, Alhaji Tukur admonished the Muslim Umah not to take laws into their hands because the holy Koran entreat Muslims to live in peace with their neighbors and always forgive those who trespass against them.

The Muslim leader promised to always educate his fellow Muslims who often quotes the Koran out of context because the holy Prophet Muhammad lived and died for peace.

He said he will make every effort to suppress extremism.
