A royal father, HRM King A. P. Ataisigwung Uboon Owawa of Ayama kingdom has commiserated with the good people of Opobo kingdom on the demise of their esteemed Monarch, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, the Amanyanabo of Opobo kingdom.

The traditional ruler opined that though it was not too good to start the year on a negative note, but that death is a necessary end and a call that everyone must answer, he noted that it’s very painful that the late Amanyanabo took a bow when his fatherly advice was needed the most, especially for Opobo people, Rivers State and even to younger kings like himself.

He equally praised the people of Opobo kingdom for the peaceful selection of a successor and  congratulated the new Amanyanabo elect, Alabo Charles Mac-Pepple Jaja as he emerged as the new Amanyanabo of Opobo kingdom, Jeki VI

Alabo Charles Mac-Pepple Jaja, Head of the Mac-Pepple War Canoe House of Opobo was  selected as the new Amanyanabo of Opobo, following the transition of the late monarch, King Dandeson Jaja, Jeki V.

65 years old Alabo Charles Mac-Pepple Jaja is  the younger brother of the immediate past Amanyanabo and a son of a former occupant of the throne, King Douglas Jaja, thereby continuing a lineage strongly rooted in the traditional leadership of the Kingdom.

A graduate of Political Science and Administration from the University of Port Harcourt, Jaja also attended Government Technical College, Abak in Akwa Ibom state and the Rivers State School of Basic Studies, plus a Diploma from the Sondore Institute of Management and a Postgraduate Certificate in Law from Rivers State University.

Installed as head of the Mac-Pepple Jaja War Canoe House on January 10, 2010, he is widely regarded as calm, measured and approachable by those close to him.

The Opobo Traditional Council is expected to announce the official details and timelines for his coronation and formal installation ceremonies in due course.

Finally, King A. P. Ataisigwung Uboon Owawa of Ayama kingdom wished his subjects and the people of Andoni a happy and prosperous new year. Even as he promised to continue his rulership with the fear of God and dedication to the customs and traditions of the land.
