The Senator representing the Rivers East Senatorial District in the National Assembly on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Senator Allwell Onyesoh says his performance in the last two years and eleven months in the Senate amply qualifies him to seek reelection into the Red Chambers for the second term.

Senator Onyesoh, who addressed newsmen after winning the party’s primary elections in his Ward in Umuanyagu community in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, stated that his performance in the red Chambers speaks for itself, adding that anyone contesting against him for the senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections, will be facing an unfair contest.

The Senator who reeled out some of his achievements, including the renovations and rehabilitation of several school buildings, award of scholarships to indigent students, added that he had, during the period subsidized the school fees of over 400 law school students in the senatorial district.

According to the Senator, he had ensured that all the federal roads in the Senatorial district, including the Airport road in the state was reconstructed, adding that he ensured that what belonged to the zone was given to it.

“So my job as a Legislator is to represent you, make laws and carry out oversights on programmes and projects on federal roads. My senatorial district is the only one where all federal roads have been rehabilitated. Go to Okirika, Borokiri, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has gone to work on the bridge there. I have done well. I am the 3rd best in attendance in the Senate presently. Let them vote for me again,” he stated.

The Senator, who expressed appreciations to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the party for their roles in uniting the party, also thanked the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike for all his support in ensuring peaceful democratic process in the state through the Rainbow Coalition initiative, contending that the FCT Minister had done nothing strange that should single him out as a villain in Nigerian politics.

On the number of bills sponsored by him during the period, Senator Onyesoh said the Senate has passed the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Ozuzu, Bill sponsored by him and was awaiting presidential assent, while his proposed bill on the establishment of a Federal Polytechnic in Okoroagu has gone through the first and second readings before the Federal Government’s embargo on the establishment of new tertiary institutions in the country.

The Senator said he was proposing a bill on the implementation of the Federal Character principle in all agencies and parastatals of the government to ensure that officials are held accountable for failing to apply the principle in the employment and allocation of positions in the government.

“I am also proposing to sponsor a bill on tourism. Bills are a complicated process and required a lot of work. I have also contributed to a lot of bills in the Senate,” the Senator declared.

The lawmaker while appreciating the people of his ward and the senatorial zone for the confidence reposed in him to represent them in the National Assembly, described the primary elections as hitchfree and devoid of any form of violence.
