The Rivers State branch of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has vowed not to tolerate any form of manipulation of elections results in the State.

The outgoing State Chairman of the party, Chief Leader Sampson made the declarations to newsmen during the screening of National and State Assembly aspirants of the party in Port Harcourt.

Amb Sampson said the ADC at the national and State levels will not tolerate any form of manipulation of the results at both the Presidential and governorship elections and urged the authorities and agencies in charge of the election processes in the country to be professional in their conducts and actions.

According to the outgoing party chairman, “we will not want to see any manipulation of the 2027 elections. We will not allow it to happen. We are not putting too much concentration on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) or the police, we expect INEC to be professional in conducting free, fair and credible elections and we expect the security agencies to be professional as well.”

He described the ADC as the only party that can redeem the country in 2027 and appealed to party supporters to remain resolute and continue to encourage more Nigerians to join the party.

On the impact of the defection of the former Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Amb. Sampson said the ADC has rather gained more strength since they left the party as according to him, many of their supporters did not leave with them to the new party.

“So, it is Obi and Kwankwaso that have lost. On zoning of Party offices, the ADC chairman affirmed that the party had not zoned its presidential ticket to any of the regions as being speculated,” stressing that a primary elections will be conducted by the party, if the three presidential aspirants fails to arrive at a consensus candidate.

While commending the party’s screening panel for applying high level of nationalism in its responsibilities, Chief Sampson assured that the ADC will be presenting credible candidates capable of emerging victorious in the 2027 elections in the country.
