Travel Writers Corps Fetes 2 Top Imo Cops

The Travel Writers Corps of Rivers State (TWC) has honoured Commander of the Imo State Police Anti kidnapping Unit, CSP Ola Odeyeyiwa and his deputy, SP Philip Okpara with “Distinguished Personality in Service to Humanity” awards.

The awards are in recognition of their efforts and gallantry that have led to the drastic reduction in the rate of kidnappings and other related crimes in Imo State.

In a brief ceremony on Wednesday July 30 at the Tiger Base of the Anti Kidnapping Unit in Owerri, capital of Imo State, chairman of the Corps, Mr Christopher Akpekwu Imbufe, who explained that TWC is an association of Publishers, Writers, Editors and Reporters commended the officers for meriting the awards from an avalanche of nominations.

The chairman, who was represented by Mr Philip Ezuma, General Secretary of the association commended the Unit under their leadership for being proactive in the war against criminilaty.

“To whom much is given, much is also expected,” he advised the awardees, pointing out that the awards by the watchdog of society is an indication that Nigerians are watching their activities and actions with keen interest.

Earlier, a citation read by Mr Jude Nzennaya, TWC stated, “Tiger Base Unit is the most vibrant security operative in fighting crimes and the Travel Writers Corps have adjudged you as having fought gallantly to bring the high rate of kidnappings and other crimes in Imo to the barest minimum.

“In the above regards, the Travel Writers Corps wishes to confer on you the award of Distinguished Personality in Service to Humanity for your efforts to serving the people of Imo State and Nigeria.

“We congratulate you on the awards and commend you on the good works you have been doing in Imo State.”

Receiving the awards on behalf of the Commander, the deputy, who was also an awardee thanked the Corps for the recognition and promised that it would ginger them for more successes.

“These awards are for the Nigeria Police Force in Imo State and for the entire operatives of the Tiger Base Unit of the Command,” he stated.
