Why Ahoada East Solad Attacked – CSO

The Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Ahoada-East Local Government Area, Mr. Hector Ekeakita, has spoken out on the recent violent incident involving the Sole Administrator of the LGA, Mr. Goodluck Iheamnacho, who was allegedly assaulted and forced to sign a resignation letter under duress.

In an exclusive statement circulated to newsmen in Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State over the weekend, Mr. Ekeakita outlined a series of grievances against the embattled Solad, shedding light on the underlying factors that may have fueled the confrontation.

According to the CSO, one of the major triggers of the violence was Solad’s alleged romance with the Simplified Family, a political support structure associated with suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

“The Sole Administrator of Ahoada-East LGA, Mr. Goodluck Iheanacho, was fraternizing with members of the Simplified Family to the extent of nearly employing a youth loyal to Governor Sim Fubara. That is unacceptable and barbaric. We do not play that kind of politics here,” Ekeakita stated in the statement.

Beyond political affiliation, the CSO accused the Administrator of neglecting key local responsibilities, including sanitation and security, which drew the ire of many residents.

He further alleged that several appointees under Mr. Iheamnacho’s administration were grossly underpaid, despite the LGA receiving substantial monthly allocations. When confronted, he said Mr. Iheamnacho reportedly claimed that a deduction of ₦200 million by the State Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas (rtd), had created financial strain on the funds accruing to the council.

Ekeakita claimed, “In April, he allegedly received ₦800 million as allocation but declared only ₦700 million. In May, he reportedly got ₦600 million, with an additional ₦100 million from excess crude funds, but declared just ₦500 million.”

These financial discrepancies, according to him, further fueled discontent among local youths and stakeholders.

However, Ekeakita, who has since been declared wanted by the state Police Command, distanced himself from the assault incident, stating categorically that he was not present during the attack and played no part in orchestrating it.

“It was not hoodlums as people are saying — it was angry and frustrated youths of Ahoada-East LGA who demanded answers. I had no hand in the assault,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mr. Goodluck Iheamnacho, who is receiving treatment in an undisclosed medical facility, reportedly denied resigning voluntarily and described the attack as a calculated move to intimidate him.

The Rivers State Police Command has since launched an investigation into the matter, vowing to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The situation in Ahoada-East remains tense as stakeholders, political observers, and residents await the outcome of the investigations and potential intervention from the state government.

However, coming on the heels of the Solad’s attack is a shooting incidence in Ahoada main town, headquarters of the LGA last Monday in which two persons were killed.

The Command’s Spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe Koko, in a statement confirmed the shooting incidence, identifying the two persons killed as one police officer and an OSPAC member.
