Odogwu Finds His Achalugo

Ekwenuya Street and suburbs in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State were agog last weekend when the ‘Odogwu’ of Abua/Odual politics in Rivers State, Barr Zinami Iwariso fulfilled the traditional marriage rites for his ‘Achalugo’.

Quite early on Saturday morning November 15, 2025, the suburbs were agog with lively guests, family members, friends and well wishers of the bride and groom in colourful attires, that added vibrancy and energy to the event streamed in and out of the venue.  Laughter, excitement and love filled the community, courtesy of the couple.

It was carnival like at the occasion proper, with the venue carefully and craftily decorated with fresh flowers, soft lightings and elegant touches that created a welcoming and festive mood. Traditional colours and motifs blended beautifully with modern arrangements, giving the space a sense of both culture and sophistication.

The entrance of the groom and bride with songs, dances and cultural displays at separate intervals  lighted up the venue, attracting attendees to join in the festivities of dances and songs, making it a full day of shared happiness.

The stunning bride, Ifeoma (Nee Nwabuwa) captivated everyone with her dance steps, elegance and grace while her radiant smile, confident poise and gentle manner as well as her traditional bridal train added charm and pageantry to the ceremony.

The ceremony was full of warmth, joy and love, bringing together people from near and far to celebrate the union of the couple. The day reflected, not only their personal happiness but also the support and affection of their families and communities.

The traditional marriage rites was witnessed by respected dignitaries, community leaders, royal fathers, professionals, and close friends. Their presence and camaraderie highlighted the couple’s importance in their communities and the wide respect they have earned. Many guests remarked on the joy and love surrounding the union, describing the ceremony “as a memorable celebration to remember.”

Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abua/Odual Chapter in Rivers State, led by its chairman, Hon. Oye Fubara Igenewari, together with the good people of Abua/Odual Local Government Area, celebrates with Barr. Zinami Iwariso, the LGA Legal Adviser of the PDP, on the joyous occasion of his traditional marriage .

The Party congratulated Barr. Zinami Iwariso and commended his dedication, service and commitment to the growth and development of the PDP in Abua/Odual Local Government Area and Rivers State at large.

Also in attendance were Sir Daniel EO Daniel, former Executive Chairman of the LGA; Hon. Dominic John Iderima, Member Representing the LGA in the State House of Assembly; Hon. Raphael Muzan-Ekpelu, Ex LGA chairman and ex State lawmaker; Chief Piri George; Dr. Isreal AP Dickson, APC chairman in the LGA and Hon. Joseph Sampson as well as other political bigwigs in the LGA.
